His graduation work "A scene from the Venice Merchant" was awarded in 1872. Despite being settled in Rome from 1873-1879, he became highly famed in Warsaw. After his return to Warsaw in 1879, he painted various scenic pieces and made illustrations for magazines. In his late years he took many trips to Munich, Paris, Cracow and Rome. Considering his splendid artistic career driving from realism at his individual impressionist visions, Alexander Gierymski is perceived as one of the leading Polish artists of 19th century....
