He moved to the United States in 1923 working mainly on sculpture commissions, and settled in Cleveland in 1925. He was head of the Cleveland School of Art from 1926-1938. He worked for Cowan Pottery ca. 1927 in ceramic design. He was awarded first prize for sculpture in the Cleveland Museum of Art May Shows of 1926, 1927 and 1928.
