After this she undertook a lengthy study tour in Italy and Paris with her mother and sister, accompanied only by a maid servant. She completed the journey in 1894 with months of lessons at Académie Julian under Jean Paul Laurens and Benjamin Constant. Having returned to Denmark, Munch became a student of Julius Paulsen from 1895 to 1897 studied fresco technique with Joakim Skovgaard in 1909–1910.
