Anton Kustia Widjaja, also known as Anton Huang, was born in Bandung, West Java, on September 16, 1935 in a Sino-Indonesian family. He learned painting in the sanggar (studio) of the reputed masters Kartono Yudhokusumo (1924-1957) and Barli Sasmitawinata (1921-). In 1969, Anton moved to Bali settling in Ubud. He learned painting in the sanggar (studio) of the reputed masters Kartono Yudhokusumo (1924-1957) and Barli Sasmitawinata (1921-). In 1969, Anton moved to Bali settling in Ubud.
