Bruno Munari was an Italian artist born in Milan in 1907. He was a futurist and visual designer known for his illustrations and graphic art. In 1929, he was recognized as a young leader of the Milanese futurist group by Marinetti. Munari participated in the Venice Biennale in 1930 and collaborated with monthly magazines "The Illustrated Magazine of the People of Italy" and "Natura" in 1931. He created an abstract painting with a stylized tractor driven by a man-silhouette plowing uncultivated land leaving a flat furrow, which was used as the cover for the April 1932 issue of "Natura". The original maquette of the painting is in a private collection in Rome. Munari died in Milan in 1998.
