He furthered his education at the Académie Julian in Paris and the Unterrichtsanstalt am Königlichen Kunstgewerbemuseum Berlin. Brendel was a master student of Albert Hertel and Paul Friedrich Meyerheim at the Berlin Academy. He was also a member of various art associations and exhibited his work at several art exhibitions...
