He spent two years at Bordeaux, and came to Paris where he went to art school and became a student of Cavalier and especially Barrias. He won a scholarship in his hometown. His early works were very popular with the public including two statues on the gravestones as part of a monument to the dead children in the Charente in 1870. This recognition earned him a commission for a sculpture commemorating the sacrifice of children in the Indre in the town of Chateauroux. He won a Prix de Rome and in 1887, a Prize for his sculpture, Pain of Orpheus. He received the Medal of Honor at the... Read full biography
