He studied at Carnegie-Mellon University, Harvard University, and at the University of Iowa with Jean Charlot. He was a member of art associations in Pittsburgh, Atlanta, and New Rochelle and in 1938, exhibited at the National Academy of Design. He served as art consultant for the TVA (Tennessee Valley Authority) and taught in the public schools in Pennsylvania, and New York.
