All of the daughters achieved success as artists, and Clara was the greatest of them. Clara Montalba studied in Paris under Eugene Isabey and later in Venice at the Accademia di Belle Arti. She was called an early feminist in 1886 by Garret Fawcett. In 1892 she was admitted to the Watercolor Society as proof of her great artistic talent.
