David Emile De Noter was a son and student of Jan-Baptist De Noter, draftsman and architect. His mother was Carola Maya with whom Jan-Baptist married just shortly before David's birth in 1818. He had a brother Michael who lived only a short time (1821-1823) and two sisters, Anne-Marie and Edalie. De Noter went to live in Brussels in 1840. He had a brother Michael who lived only a short time (1821-1823) and two sisters, Anne-Marie and Edalie. De Noter went to live in Brussels in 1840. He married Clemence Wauters on 25 November 1845 in Mechelen. They had seven children: Léon-David (° 1848), Henri-Louis (1848), Marie-Henriette (1850), Paul-Alexandre (1851), Raphaël-Ferdinand (1856), Albert-Clement (1858) and Georges- Philippe (1859).
