Frost, and like Frost, he illustrated many of the Uncle Remus stories by Joel Chandler Harris. Kemble illustrated several other famous books, including Mark Twain's Huckleberry Finn, and Puddin' Head Wilson, Harriet Beecher Stowe's Uncle Tom's Cabin, and Washington Irving's Knickerbocker History of New York. His humor made him an effective political cartoonist as well.
