Emile Andre Boisseau was a French sculptor born in Varzy in 1842. He studied at the college in Varzy and later worked on the restoration of diocesan buildings in Bourges. He then studied at the School of Fine Arts in Paris and debuted at the Paris Salon in 1868. Boisseau created several important sculptures, monuments, and facades of buildings in Paris. He was appointed director of the Clamecy Museum in 1888 and held various positions in the art world, including vice president of the Society of French Artists and president of the Syndicate of Artistic Property. Boisseau was also an officer of the Legion of Honor since 1900. He died in Paris in 1923.
