Emile Charles Joseph Loubon was a French painter, known for his landscapes of Provence. He was the son of Augustin François Loubon, merchant, and Anne-Therese Michel. He studied drawing under the direction of Jean-Antoine Constantin, François Marius Granet and Louis Mathurin Clerian, the later whom was Director of the art school of Aix, which had the greatest influence on Loubon. He studied drawing under the direction of Jean-Antoine Constantin, François Marius Granet and Louis Mathurin Clerian, the later whom was Director of the art school of Aix, which had the greatest influence on Loubon. Although this training was influential, he was more interested in landscape and decided to devote himself exclusively to that subject.
