He received the teachings of Charles Lameire at the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Arts Décoratifs, where he will become friends with Jean Dupas. He was closely associated with other well-known artists of the Bordeaux School: Jean Gabriel Domergue, Raphaël Delorme, Jean Despujols and Alfred Janniot. Grand Prix of Rome in 1914, he could not rejoin the Villa Medicis until after the war, from 1919 to 1923. He then developed a geometric and antique style.
