Evgeniy Vsevolodovych Volobuev was born in Varvrovka, in the Ukrainian province of Kharkov. He studied at the Kharkov Art Tekhnikum from 1928 to 1931. These were followed with four more years of study at the Kharkov Art Institute, as well as five more years at the Kiev Art Institute. Volobuev was active in Kiev. Among his important exhibitions was the 'All-Union' Art Exhibition, which took place in Moscow in 1955. He taught at the Kiev Intermediate Art School between 1946 and 1954.
