In 1894 Planquette exhibited for the first time at the Salon des Artistes Français winning an honorable mention. He continued to exhibit there in 1900 and in 1902 he won the third place medal, then the Médaille d'Or in 1905, and another medal in 1912. In fact, nearly all of his paintings include either just animals in a rural setting or animals with figures doing work in a similar setting. Planquette's works have been shown in museums in Arras, France and San Francisco.
