Francis La Monaca born in 1882 in Catanzaro in Italy and died in Washington, United States of America in 1937, is an artist Italian painter and sculptor naturalized French. In 1903, Francis La Monaca, originally from Italy, abandoned his military career and decided to move to Paris where he entered the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts and trained in the studios of Gabriel-Jules Thomas and Jean-Antoine Injalbert. Although he was part of the avant-garde circle, La Monaca exhibited at the Salon des artistes français in 1909. He met with some success with Parisian high society, of whom he painted many portraits.
