He became a member of the Hagenbund. In 1938, under pressure from the National Socialists, he had to sell the hotel for less than its value. In 1942 an exhibition ban was issued against him. Although his early work was characterized by Expressionism and Cubism, Jung soon dealt with the problem of color as a form of partial light quantities and traveled to Dresden to meet the physicist Wilhelm Ostwald, who had been awarded the Nobel Prize for his research on color theory .
