In addition to being a well-known portraitist, Clairin also completed numerous decorative commissions for public buildings: the theatres in Tours and Cherbourg, the Opéra in Monte Carlo, as well as the Opéra, Sorbonne, Hôtel de Ville and Bourse du Commerce in Paris.
