He studied first at the École des Beaux Arts in Tours, from 1921 on in Paris with Jean Paul Laurens. François undertook many journeys, among others to Morocco, the USA, Martinique and Guadaloupe. From 1910 on he was represented at the exhibitions in the Salon d'Hiver, the Salon de la Marine and the Salon des Artistes française. Between 1921 and 1958 he exhibited at the Salon des Indépendants.
