Giuseppe Amisani (Italian 1881-1941). Giuseppe Amisani began his studies at the Academia di Belle Arti di Brera, in Milan under Cesare Tallone. While there his work began to be recognized and he received his first "Milius Prize" for the paintings: Portrait of Cleopatra and Doctor. In 1912 he received an even more important prize (Fumagalli) for the portrait of Lyda Borelli. Amisani was primarily know as a portrait painter, although he also painted the occasional landscape, and his travels took him to England and the English and Italian colonies in Africa. He took part in numerous exhibitions in Rome, Milan, Venice, Buenos Aires, Sao Paolo, and Cairo. He later settled down in Portofino where he painted until his death in 1941. Source:....
