After the Second World War, he studied at the arts academy in Stuttgart between 1946 and 1948, and the following year at the academy in Karlsruhe under Wilhelm Schnarrenberger (1892-1966) and Otto Laible (1898-1962). In 1956, Heinz Friedrich visited the international summer school in Salzburg by Oskar Kokoschka and Giacomo Manzù. In addition, he worked as a set designer for various theatres. From 1968, Friedrich began to set his wits to the technique of the colour woodcut and in 1970 became a member of "XYLON", an international association of woodcutters. After the Second World War, he studied at the arts academy in Stuttgart between 1946 and 1948, and the following year at the academy in Karlsruhe under Wilhelm Schnarrenberger (1892-1966) and Otto Laible (1898-1962). In 1956, Heinz Friedrich visited the international summer school in Salzburg by Oskar Kokoschka and Giacomo Manzù. In addition, he worked as a set designer for various theatres.
