He was a versatile painter, producing work in the style of Delacroix and Courbet as well as rich still-lifes like those of Chardin and portraits in the Flemish manner. In stark contrast he showed abstract work at the Salon des Realites Nouvelles in Paris where he exhibited between 1949 to 1955.
