From early childhood he loved the sea and ships, and his work later in life was greatly influenced by this. After his military service in the Navy, he began his training in Paris in the studio of the sculptor and decorator Fernand Buzon, at Avenue Junot, next to Gen-Paul's studio. His career as an artist really began with textile design. He was lucky to be recruited by Michel Dubost for a drawing workshop created in Paris by silk magnate François Ducharne. His workshop comrades included Bernard Lorjou, Yvonne Mottet, Therese Prelle, Guy de Chaugnac (Dom Robert) and, particularly, Suzanne Janin, who will later become his wife. Friends of...
