In 1887 he received a scholarship from the Diputación de Cádiz that allowed him to continue his studies in Paris, where he worked in the workshops of Francisco Domingo Marqués and Léon Bonnat. He lived in the French capital for six years and, upon returning to Spain, became a professor at the School of Fine Arts in Cadiz. He participated in several exhibitions, the most important being the one at the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid in 1894.
