Girão worked as a restorer at the National Museum of Ancient Art for 36 years and exhibited his works in various exhibitions, including the Sociedade Promotora de Belas Artes, the "Grupo do Leão," the National Society of Fine Arts, and the Portuguese Exhibition in Rio de Janeiro in 1908. He was a member of the "Grupo do Leão" and was featured in Columbano's famous painting of the group in 1885
