Carnero painted several artworks during his career, including the altarpiece for the Colegio de San Pedro y San Pablo, the Dream of San José, portraits of Palafox and Fray Marcos Ramírez de Prado, and the Virgin of Guadalupe. Carnero painted several artworks during his career, including the altarpiece for the Colegio de San Pedro y San Pablo, the Dream of San José, portraits of Palafox and Fray Marcos Ramírez de Prado, and the Virgin of Guadalupe. He was considered one of the most relevant Pueblan artists of his time and painted a series of nine canvases for the Rosario chapel of the Santo Domingo temple. In 1684, Carnero left Mexico and settled in Puebla
