Having spent much of her life primarily as a mother and wife, it was only when she was in her 40s that Jaroszynska's own style matured. According to Esmé Berman, the artist made a series of large paintings in the late 1970s in which "she gave form to a unique community of mirror-image men and women, cloned from some doe-eyed, large-nosed, low-browed prototype of her remembering or dreaming".
