Extended stays in Vienna, where he was awarded the Austrian Medal of the State in 1923 and 1926, as well as stays in Rome, Paris and Munich followed. Extended stays in Vienna, where he was awarded the Austrian Medal of the State in 1923 and 1926, as well as stays in Rome, Paris and Munich followed. Schlageter was the president of the German Artists’ Association 1928/32. The artist lived in Berlin in 1932. In 1944, he moved back to Switzerland, settling in Zurich. Schlageter was a painter of landscapes, figurative depictions (nudes), portraits and still lifes. His works are represented for example at the municipal galleries of Munich, at the Neue Museum Nürnberg and at the Museum Lucerne. Schlageter died in 1990.
