After studying at the Beaux-Arts in Bruges and Saint-Luc in Ghent, and at the Institut Supérieur des Beaux-Arts in Antwerp, he embraced Flemish Expressionism, collaborating with painter Constant Permeke from 1935. After studying at the Beaux-Arts in Bruges and Saint-Luc in Ghent, and at the Institut Supérieur des Beaux-Arts in Antwerp, he embraced Flemish Expressionism, collaborating with painter Constant Permeke from 1935. In 1949, he married Jenny Verbuggen, who supported him throughout his career. After briefly joining the Jeune Peinture Belge group, he turned to geometry with the support of painter, writer and art critic Michel Seuphor. Luc Peire moved to Paris in 1959.
