Although he did not receive support from school, his father encouraged him to pursue his talent and continue drawing. Mansor studied at Clifford School Kuala Kangsar before joining Institut Latihan Perguruan in Johor (1952), later joining the Specialist Teachers Institute in Kuala Lumpur.
