He settled in Paris in 1909, took classes from Matisse and in conjunction with Macdonald-Wright, synthesized their research into what they called Synchronism, meaning simply "with color." It combined the spatial figures of Cubism with full-blast color and pushed beyond any clear images into abstraction. But the flame burned out quickly and Russell all but abandoned the movement by 1916. Consequently, Robert Delaunay was credited with inventing the style. Physical... Read full biography
