The artist was a student of the General Drawing School in Vienna, 1891 and a guest student at the Vienna Academy. In 1893, studied at the general school of painting in Vienna and was a student of Julius Berger. Later becoming a student of the Master school of history painting at Siegmund L Allemand and Franz Rumpler. Starting in 1899, Nowak worked as a freelance painter. The artist enjoyed regular summer stays in Weidlingau in Vienna. Nowak was a member of the cooperative of visual artists Vienna (Vienna Artists' house).
