A native of Pomerania, Otto Thiele (1870-1955) began training with the German Post at the age of 18, while he privately dealt with the visual arts. When he had to move to Berlin for business purposes, he began studying at the Royal Academy of the Arts and temporarily studied under Lovis Corinth. Thiele graduated in 1906.
