He studied at the academy in Munich with Johann Caspar Herterich and Gabriel von Hackl and participated in the international art exhibition of the Munich Secession in 1894. Kutscha went on a four-year trip around the world and lived in Berlin from 1900. He settled in Hamburg from 1905-10 and lived in Dachau from 1913 until his death in Munich in 1935.
