Peter Paul Draewing (1876-1940) first trained as a decorative painter in Rostock and attended the local industrial school. In 1896 he began studying at the art school in Weimar, where he was a pupil of Theodor Hagen, Carl Frithjof Smith, and Hans Olde. From 1904 to 1907 he completed studies at the Art Academy in Kassel.
