Noted in his family were, among others, Vidwan Koil Tampuran, author of the famous Kathakali work Ravana Vijayam; Raja Raja Varma, who painted after the Tanjore style; and Uma Amba Bai Tampuratty, who, composed Parvati Swayamvaram, a work for the Tullal dance.
