He taught fine art (which included art history and architecture) and mechanical drawing when I was in junior high school at P.A. Capdau on Franklin Avenue (1961-63). He taught fine art (which included art history and architecture) and mechanical drawing when I was in junior high school at P.A. Capdau on Franklin Avenue (1961-63). He was by far my favorite teacher. Obviously very gifted, he showed students the techniques used for pencil, ink, block printing, pastels, oils, and watercolors. If I'm remembering correctly, he was left-handed. He drew and painted while we watched, an amazing thing to see because his entire arm would follow his hand in sweeping flows. very at ease, almost casual gestures. Made everything look easy.
