In 1984, he finally separated from his family's arena and from then on worked as a freelance artist, until 1989 also as a stage and television actor. In the 1980's he became acquainted with paintings that exhibited circus motifs in a partly abstract, partly representational pictorial language, and in which tent screen fragments served as image carriers.
