He was best known for his illustrations of various products and short stories that were published in many magazines (Ladies Home Journal, Ladies Home Companion, etc.) Later in his career he was primarily a portrait painter in oils. During that time he was continually experimenting with still-lifes, landscapes and abstract paintings.
