Rudolf Yelin I was born 1864 in Reutlingen. His parents wanted their son to pursue a theological career, however he decided to quit theology and devoted himself to painting. In Munich he took classes with Heinz Heim, later with Paul Nauen at the Munich Academy and Prof. Frank Kirchbach at the Städel Art Institute in Frankfurt. Influenced by his theological background Yelin painted predominantly monumental mural paintings with religious subjects in churches, later he also devoted himself to glass painting. His occasional landscapes and portraits are characterized by the realism of the Munich school. Yelin died in 1941.
