During the Second World War, he was called up for military service and fell into captivity. After his return home and the expulsion from Sudetenland, he found a new home in Bavaria. During the Second World War, he was called up for military service and fell into captivity. After his return home and the expulsion from Sudetenland, he found a new home in Bavaria. There, he began working as an independent artist. In 1948, a selection of his work was first exhibited in the Kunstverein Stuttgart. National and international solo exhibitions followed, for example at Kleemann Gallery in New York, and at the Neue Galerie Linz. Weidl was commissioned to create several monumental works in the public realm, such as the bronze figure of Colonia above the main portal of the new Cologne City Hall.... Read full biography
