In 1921, Zhang Chong-Ren entered into Tushanwan Printing House to work in plate-making and photography. He also began to learn oil painting. In 1931 he entered into Academie Royale des Beaux-Arts de LIege. During this period, he met a Belgian comic artist Herge and collaborated a production called "Blue Lotus." In 2003, Zhang Chong-Ren memorial was established.
