Vera Schlezinger Rockline was born in Moscow in 1896. Her mother was French, and her father was Russian. While in Moscow she studied in the studio of I. Machkoff, and she was later a student of Alexandra Exter in Kiev. In 1919 Rockline exhibited at the Union of Russian Painters under the name Schlesinger, in an exhibition called "Exhibition of Jewish Painters and Sculptors." She also exhibited at the fifth annual national exhibition of "Impressionism and Abstraction." She also designed decoration for the anniversary of the Revolution. She was married in 1918. Rockline left Moscow in 1919 and took refuge in Georgia, a province of Russia. Rockline arrived in Paris in 1921, and settled in the Montparnasse district. She began exhibiting in...
