He attended the Kansas State Teachers College in Emporia, Kansas, where he earned a B.S.E. in Art and Foreign Languages in 1963. Following graduation from his master's program in 1967, Spinski became a full-time faculty member in the art department at the University of Delaware in Newark, where he served as a professor until his retirement in 2006.
