In 1933 he was appointed professor at the Düsseldorf Art Academy as a professor of monumental painting. Werner Peiner headed, from 1936 to the end of the Second World War, the Hermann Goering master classes for painting in Kronenburg and designs include monumental tapestries for the New Reich Chancellery. Peiner was taken in 1944 by Adolf Hitler in the so-called Gottbegnadeten list, the list of the twelve most important visual artists of National Socialism.
