He returned to Chicago for post-graduate study (Master of Fine Arts, University of Chicago, 1966) and has been showing his paintings in group and solo exhibitions for c. fifty years. He taught at college art programs since 1971 and is Professor Emeritus at Northwestern University. His paintings blend arrangements of color and form, some of them geometrically precise.
