Between 1912-1914, Vladimir Petroff studied at the Tiflis (Georgia, Caucasus) Art College, where his teacher was N. V. Sklifasovski. His studies were interrupted by the war, in which he participated: at first, in Tsarist (fighting against Germany) and, later, in White armies (fighting against the Bolsheviks).
