Like many artists of the 1960s, Stanek studied the writings of Wladyslaw Strzeminski, in particular "Theory of Seeing." Born in 1925, Zdzislaw Stanek came from the environment of the Krakow Academy of Fine Arts. He was one of the most important members of the Katowice group St-53. Like many artists of the 1960s, Stanek studied the writings of Wladyslaw Strzeminski, in particular "Theory of Seeing." The fascination with the Lódz master resulted in a series of paintings in which Stanek's main focus was on reflections on light and its essence in the context of painting. The artist often drew inspiration from the organic world, borrowing from it various forms. Already in the late 1950s, he began painting textures, which later translated into a series of works in which the artist boldly used relief forms borrowed from the world of fauna and flora. The... Like many artists of the 1960s, Stanek studied the writings of Wladyslaw Strzeminski, in particular "Theory of Seeing." The fascination with the Lódz master resulted in a series of paintings in which Stanek's main focus was on reflections on light and its essence in the context of painting. The artist often drew inspiration from the organic world, borrowing from it various forms. Already in the late 1950s, he began painting textures, which later translated into a series of works in which the artist boldly used relief forms borrowed from the world of fauna and flora. The 'Imageform' series, realized in the '70s and' 80s, initiated the period in which the artist created three-dimensional images-objects.
