Anne Katrine Dolven left her hometown Oslo at the age of 19 to study at the École des Beaux-Arts in Aix-en-Provence and at the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. In 1987/88 she stayed at the artist in residence program at the Künstlerhaus Bethanien in Berlin.
